Review: Nikon 35-70mm f/2.8 AF-D

This is a lens that goes everywhere with me. It is sharp, has excellent contrast and image quality. If you have a chance to pick this one up, you will not be disappointed with it! I have used this lens for over a year now and have used it on the following Nikon bodies: D70/s, D200, D300.

Pros:
Sharp
Fast
Built well (metal body)
Contrast is excellent
Color rendition excellent
Focus acquisition is very good

Cons:
Heavy (considering the Focal range it covers)
The supplied lens hood is an insufficient aid.*
Prone to Ghosting/Flaring*
Very little distortion
The barrel rotates when focusing; you must readjust CP filter, graduated, special filters after re-focusing.
Limited Focal range
Focus speed Average(not AF-S)

*Notes: I replaced the stock lens hood The Nikon HB-1 (1 inch deep) with a Nikon HB-26 (2 inches deep). An excellent improvement!
